Alara London’s Christmas Table Styling Tips

It's the season to be jolly …and that means lots of fun entertaining, delicious food  and catching up with family and friends. Here are some simple tips to make your tables shine!!

1. Plan Ahead

If you know you have a few gatherings coming up, it's worth planning ahead and starting to collect festive bits and pieces in the run up. Ribbon, crackers, table gifts, fun glassware, candles, pine cones, nuts, place cards. Why not treat yourself to some new linens, plates, vases or candlesticks? It's surprising how just one or two updates to your tableware collection can have such an impact.

2. Pick a Design that works based on numbers, time available and the guests .

For example... time is short but you need something special for a Lady's Christmas lunch or something fun and easy for Christmas Eve? Why not have a colour pop Christmas theme?

We have created one here using our ribbed vases, bright flowers, candlestick vases edged in pink, rose coloured candles, little glass reindeer and our lovely hand blown glass baubles.. that also double up as gifts and place cards holders. Bright stripey crackers add to the whimsy feel.

This table takes about 10 minutes to put together and is so joyful and the perfect contrast to the more traditional tablescapes.

3. Accents

It’s lovely to include small thoughtful accents around the table. We have used pine cuttings from the garden down the centre of our table which bring a delicious scent, mixed in with pine cones, thistles and eucalyptus cuttings. We then added height by loading a cake stand with a pomegranate and nuts. For the table setting we decorated pears with a little gold leaf and used brown paper tags for place cards , secured with a twig of rosemary.

Our candlestick vases  are adorned with green candles and our jade green and painted vases twinkle along the centre of the table , filled with simple inexpensive  white blooms.

We added fun for the children by including our glass reindeers in the scene. Not much more was needed apart from simple crackers. Gold crackers would have worked well here too.

Colourful accent plates completed the scene. Perfect for a really magical Christmas lunch and easy to prepare. Its worth getting all the craft bits done ahead if you can.

We hope you have the most wonderful Christmas 2025!!
