Collection: Glassware
Turkey has a fascinating history with glass, and Istanbul in particular as it was the centre of glass making during the Ottoman era. Their glass products were usually oil burning lamps, tulip vases, rosewater bottles, saucers, sugar cups, stained glass and even pitchers. In Anatolia, glass beads were also commonly produced. Beautiful coloured glass adorns architecture such as the Haggia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. The Sultans sent their glass makers to Murano in Venice to further their skills and a new form of hand blown glass arts was born. The Ottomans took their skills further afield and into Egypt sharing their knowledge of the industry and of Venetian skills. Introducing our first collection in collaboration with our highly skilled glass making artisans in Egypt.
